Lionsraw South Africa comes from Lionsraw based in the UK. The vision of one man, Jon Burns to mobilise soccer fans to love the beautiful game while loving and serving the local community at the same time led to a team of 150 guys coming to Durban, South Africa in 2010. In the 2 weeks they were in Durban, they completed 4 building projects and 7 soccer academies in the Valley of 1000 Hills region, while watching some of the local matches in between.

After this, the South Africa Valley Legacy Fund was set up in the UK so people could continue to raise money and donate to the ongoing projects in Durban. It was decided that two permanent workers were needed in Durban to manage and develop new and existing projects.
